Team Paul’s GSD Breeding Ethics

Here German Shepherd Dogs are Bred with Ethics

When we introduce about ourselves as a long coat German Shepherd Breeder in India, we also mean to introduce ourselves as being a breeder with ethics. We have been constantly keeping eye on our animals’ health in our kennel  – not only physical health, but psychological health at the same time, and have the idea of ethical breeding deeply ingrained in our mind.

We totally understand that ethical breeding not only involves the selection of healthy dogs that are true type of the GSD breed in terms of behaviour and physical appearance, but also exhibiting a sustainable performance. This helps us get good pups at least like their fantastic parents or better than them. By ethical breeding we also believe that a breeder should consider preserving or reinforcing the genetically driven desirable traits of the breed as the prime preference.

However, while doing so the welfare consideration are often times given an afterthought by many breeders – especially the backyard breeders out there who treats animals as money making machines. Consequently, animal welfare organizations debate against the practice of animal breeding.

But what sets Team Pauls as a GSD breeder aside is our controlled breeding approach. We strictly maintain a very controlled approach in order to steer clear of over-breeding for meeting constant demands for Team Paul's German Shepherd pups. We believe that our dogs are our family, and not commodities. We take immense care of their health and DO NOT use a female more than once a year for breeding. We also DO NOT use a female for breeding as she reaches 5 years of age. There is a regulation of health requirements for breeding our dogs. Our vet plays significant role in deciding where we should breed a particular dog or not, based on his or her health conditions. At Team Pauls the physical as well as functional soundness of our GSD are always given a high priority.

Our breeding goals are set to meet the standard and types for the breed we deal with – The German Shepherd Dogs. We will always be the happiest of all when we see our pups typical to the breed standard. But we take extra miles to refrain ourselves from even thinking of “overtyping”. Therefore anatomically our dogs come up with better soundness than many of their other counterparts in the show rings. We understand that “Overtyping” will always bear a negative impact on health and welfare of our pups as they grow up.

The story doesn’t end here! We have specially trained crew to take care of our dogs in all possible ways before, during and after the pregnancy phase. Veterinary involvement is kept as prime priority.
